Stained Glass Workshop

Image
My stained glass pattern.  I went to a workshop on Sunday on making stained glass.  I am not sure how this is going to turn out.  When we turned on the glass cutters, all of the power went out in the building so I have to go back on Tuesday.  I will keep you posted. This was in the entrance to the shop.  I am going to make one of these eventually.  I am already planning on buying my own sodering tools. Original idea from the beginning of the year "theme" at school.  The school is a garden and each person is growing.  Every person at the school, kids and adults, decorated a flower and wrote important things about themselves.  Then we planted the flowers all over the buildings. (Hung them all around.)   It is a pretty nice garden effect. I had to cut up my pattern and match each piece to the color of glass that I wanted to use. After I left the workshop, I went to this little coffee shop off the beaten path and had egg coffee for the ...

This is one view from the inside of the Motorbike parking garage at the mall. When you hear tight parking ---- you have no idea!!!   How they even know which one is theirs is a small miracle.  I am going to have to put an i-tag on mine so I can find it!!! This was in all directions!!! This is Sarah.  She lives in the building beside me.  She is in the same predicament this year as I was last year.  Many of her good friends have left and she doesn't have her "circle" anymore so she is hanging out with the new people quite a bit! We had our unit provocation and my classroom was used as an event setting.  It was great to see these kids complete an activity and were civil (for the most part).  They were so excited. The Vietnamese women were body coverings so that the sun does not touch their skin.  It is REALLY hot here and they still cover up 100%. On my way to the movies on the back of Sarah's bike! We had a really nice night out and wen...

Food Tour

Image
The start of the tour was VERY wet.  There were 12 of us (newbies) that did not go anywhere on our first long weekend so we all decided to see a bit of the city and went on an XO Food Tour by Moped.  It started at the Ho Chi Minh Opera House That is the train of mopeds starting off. This is at one of the stops while we were waiting for food. A water tower from down town.  A bit worried about all of the black mold on the side of it.   Hmm ---- I wonder what it looks like on the inside. Favorites - More pictures from the food tour to come.  It was amazing riding around on the mopeds through 5 different districts in Ho Chi Minh. Great time with new friends.  IT was a great way to get out a bit and NOT work all weekend.

First Days in Vietnam

Image
Arriving in Ho Chi Minh with 9 suitcases.  It was only 900 degrees and about 10,000 people in the airport waiting area.  Slight exaggeration but that is what it felt like. I had to wait for a while for someone to get me.  It was a bit nerve racking, but all went fine from there.   I have been here for four weeks tomorrow and the experience has been wonderful.  I have an apartment and I am having my first scooter class on Sunday.  Everything is settling down!   More pictures to come.
